Pet Information – Japanese Bobtail

Japanese Bobtails make great companions and are known to be active and very intelligent .  They easily adjust to new people and different situations making them easy cats to show. They are well known for their chattiness and will talk to their favourite people in a song-like, soft tone. They come in shorthaired and longhaired varieties and feature bi-colour and tri-colour coats in solids, tabby patterns and tortoiseshells.  Noticeably missing is a long bushy tail.
Most Japanese Bobtails are tailless, but some do have a short tail or a “rise” tail. The tails can be rigid or flexible but rarely longer than three inches.

Life expectancy: 15-18 years
Originating country: Japan
Temperament: Curious, bold and alert
Interesting fact: One well-known tale tells of a small, short-tailed female cat named Maneki-Neko that was said to have beckoned to passersby. She was also associated with good fortune.
