Pet Information – English Labrador Retriever

English Labrador Retrievers are considered the original lab.  They have heavy bone structures and big brown eyes which give them their kind expression.  There is also an American type which is often stockier than the English retriever.  English labs are very easy to train, a trait that makes them the breed most chosen to be guide dogs.  They come in three coat colours, brown, black and yellow (golden).

Life expectancy: 10—12 years
Originating country: England
Temperament: Kind, loving, receptive
Interesting fact: British Labs were imported to establish the breed in the U.S in the 1920s and 1930s.
