Under the spotlight for our breed of the week is the majestic moggie! Officially referred to as the Domestic Short hair, moggies have a mixed ancestry and do not belong to one recognised pedigree. The closest ancestor to the moggie is the African Wild Cat, however moggies have spread far and wide across the world and most importantly into our hearts.
There is no standard type or coat colour for a moggie, they can occur in whichever variety so pleases them, but are commonly Tabby coloured. Another common coat colour, predominately in females, is the Tortoiseshell variety.
Moggies have all the perks of any crossbreed animal, including natural vigour and robustness. Moggies make fantastic companions and have an average lifespan of up to 15 years, though many individuals surpass this age. Their short coats require minimal grooming and the breed encompasses a wide variety of temperaments to suit all homes.
