So, let’s be honest. We know deep down that our dogs probably don’t know what Christmas is, or who Santa Claus is, or properly understands why we’ve suddenly put a fully-grown tree up in the middle of the living room, but we like to think they get excited over the holidays too. There are lots of dog Christmas treats that get them excited for this time of year, and here are just a few:
Extra shopping = Extra boxes!
Even more treats!
Every time your dog hears the rustle of their treats wrapper they come running, and this time every year, the rustle happens every day! What’s not exciting about that?! With dog treat stockings dangling and pup advent calendars lurking around the place it won’t be a surprise if they manage to hold off from eating everything within a few seconds. Just remember though, that dog treats are very similar to tucking into a box of chocolates for us humans! Whilst it is nice to indulge a little at Christmas, make sure to only feed your dog treats in line with guidelines on the packaging, to avoid them piling on the pounds this festive season!
Extra food = Extra walkies!
With all the extra food hanging around means even more Christmas walks to burn off that big Christmas dinner. There’s a good chance your perfect pooch is looking forward to all those turkey leftovers too! There’s nothing more exciting for a dog than a crisp walk, perhaps with a little bit of snow to trudge in too!
Christmas tree zoomies
The day your Christmas tree goes up is the day your, perhaps once dignified dog goes wild. All the excitement leading to extra zoomies around the living room, scrunched up balls of wrapping paper to chase and bring back to you, new presents under the tree to sniff and chew, fluffy new slippers to drool on and plenty of baubles and toy balls rolling around the floor to jump on.
If your dog’s been good this year (of course we know they have!) they are keen to receive some new toys! They may look forward to getting a brand-new squeaky toy, perhaps a new bed, an exciting new bone to chew, a fun game of fetch or even a funky new collar. Maybe you could spoil them even more by taking them for a stroll around the toy section of a pet store!
Extra attention and Christmas films
Amongst all the chaos, shopping, wrapping and food preparations, what they look forward to the most is all the extra attention you give them. So, make sure to sit down and relax this year and give your furry family member some extra time and head rubs, because that’s what Christmas is really about. And, with all the festive films to re-watch again and again this year, means more opportunity to jump up and put their head on your lap too. Bliss!
